Stag Head Fireplace Doors

These fireplace doors feature solid planished copper door plates. I make custom barrel and pintle hinges for all my fireplace doors so they can be removed easily allowing for unobstructed fire viewing. In this case since these doors were completely opaque the customer asked for an internal pull across mesh screen. This allows them several options with which to enjoy their fireplace. I was thrilled when they requested a stag head motif. They, in turn were more than trilled with my interpretation of the head in high relief. During its manufacture, several jokes were made as to the stag’s “split” personality by patrons of my shop. As for myself, I would never stoop to such obvious low brow humour.
