Arched Double Door Screen

Typically I build my fireplace doors, either glass or screen with an internal frame which mounts into the interior of the fireplace opening. In this particular case the stonework within the fire box opening was so rugged and irregular it made it impractical to build my usual inner frame. My client suggested surface mounted hinges for these fire screen doors which was in keeping with the bold, rustic feel of the entire room. The entire frame was heavily hammer textured to match the rough stone and wood elements.
