My complaint with most commercial fireplace inserts is that they look to modern and factory made. This maybe appropriate with certain décor but it looks completely out of place with traditional looking fireplaces especially one using rustic brick or natural stone. I tend to build heavy solid looking doors that have a real handmade look to them. That’s because they are, oddly enough, handmade specifically for each specific fireplace taking into account function as well as aesthic requirements.
